Downtown Pittsburgh’s Oktoberfest, Prostburgh!, runs October 1–11, 2026 — eleven days of German beer, bratwurst, polka and games centered on Market Square and spreading through the Golden Triangle. General admission is free. Hours are noon to 8 PM Sunday through Thursday and noon to 10 PM Friday and Saturday. The headline attraction is back too: a 60-foot Ferris wheel on the Roberto Clemente Bridge, $7 a ride, with the skyline and the rivers laid out underneath you. It lands on two of the busiest weekends of the fall. The first weekend stacks onto the Penguins home opener on Saturday, October 3, and follows straight off Olivia Rodrigo’s two nights at PPG Paints Arena. The second weekend is Pitt Family Weekend, with Pitt hosting North Carolina on Saturday the 10th and the Steelers hosting the Colts on Sunday the 11th. Why a home beats a hotel for a beer festival weekend
Nobody should be driving home from Oktoberfest. A house gives you a kitchen for a real breakfast the morning after, room for the group to spread out, and somewhere to land that isn’t a crowded hotel lobby. If there are kids with you for Family Day, a home with separate bedrooms is a much easier weekend than two adjoining rooms.

Early October is peak Pittsburgh: fall color on the hillsides, cool evenings, and the city walkable end to end. Pair a Market Square afternoon with a Strip District breakfast, an Incline ride up Mt.
