A winter wedding in Pittsburgh is a genuinely good idea, and not only because venues and vendors have more availability. The city is lit up from late November through the New Year, the light in photographs is beautiful, and out-of-town guests who come in December tend to make a real trip of it.
What winter changes is the housing. Nobody wants to stand outside between things. Guests are in coats, shoes get swapped at the door, and the gaps in the day — after the ceremony, before the reception, the whole morning after — need somewhere indoors to happen. A hotel lobby does not solve this. A house does.
Winter also raises the odds that travel gets interrupted. A flight slips a day, someone drives in early ahead of weather. A whole-home booking absorbs that far better than a stack of individual room reservations with individual change fees.
The upside of the season: your guests land in a city already dressed for the holidays. See Christmas in Pittsburgh for what to send them out to do between your events.
